Baker's Dozen Tidbits

Submissions are closed, adult winners have been notified, and Jodi and I are 75% of the way through the YA/MG entries.  I'll be in San Francisco this week, and blogging may be light. So I thought I'd take a moment to gather the Baker's Dozen eggs into a basket.

ON THE AUCTION:
  • YA/MG winners will be notified via email on Monday, November 21.  Entrants, please take a moment to add facelesswords(at)gmail.com to your address book, to avoid spam traps.  If you do not hear from me, your entry has not been chosen for the auction.
  • A reminder that ALL non-winning entrants in both categories will be invited to submit their entries to one of ten participating blogs for public critique.  This is optional.
  • We've lost one of our participating agents due to personal issues. OUR ALL-STAR LINE-UP OF AGENTS, EDITORS, AND AUTHORS IS HERE.
  • Each of the 60 entries will receive critique from one editor and one author, in addition to all critique offered from blog readers.
  • The 60 auction entries will be posted on Friday, December 2.  Critique may begin immediately.
  • Bidding will open at 11:00 am EST on Tuesday, December 6. It would be helpful to have NO CRITIQUE DURING THE 24-HOUR BIDDING WINDOW. I've encouraged the agents to subscribe to the posts they're bidding on, and I'm sure they'd appreciate NOT getting lots of critiques in their inboxes.  Critiquing may resume after bidding closes on Wednesday.
ON DONATIONS:
  • Please remember to mark your donations ADMIN or BOOKS.
  • I will accept BOOK donations for one more week (until November 21).  After this time, all donations will go to ADMIN.  (This gives me time to purchase and present the books to my library before Christmas.)
  • THANK YOU for your generosity.
ON ANYTHING I MAY HAVE FORGOTTEN:

Post questions below!

  1. Hi, Authoress! Will this be the same bidding format as last year, where agents could bid on any entry they wanted after the official auction had closed?

  2. Anon -- There is a 1-week exclusive for all wins. After that, any agent who wishes may contact me privately to request things may do so. I'll lay this out prior to the open of the auction. :)

  3. Now I can stop obsessing about whether you're going to announce the winners early. Have a fun and safe trip!

  6. My tummy's already twisting in anticipation for Dec 2nd. And nerves for Dec 6th.

Authoress, you have a nice, stressfree trip to San Francisco. And congrats on almost completing the grind through the YA/MG entries. I honestly have no idea how the pair of you are doing it (I'm guessing chocolate's probably involved somewhere along the lines ^_^ ).

  7. For participating blog critiques, will there be a list/information on that posted later?

  8. Shalu-- Yes, there will be a list and specific instructions for non-winners on where to send their excerpts for critique. There will also be a schedule, because I want to make sure there's never more than 1 critique per week (for maximum participation).

  9. I just noticed how completely underrepresented male agents are in the Baker's Dozen. I wonder how that will affect the bidding.

  10. Well, statistically there are many more female agents than male. That's just the way it is, for whatever reason. I did invite other males, I promise. ;)

  11. Thanks for the info. Have a lovely trip! San Francisco is one of my favorite cities. I had my first Nutella and banana crepe there! Yum!
