Friday Fricassee

Happy Friday!

I'm still getting through the critiques; some things came up yesterday and I never got back to it. As usual, you're all amazing. And there are already a few stories that have left me feeling like, "Hey! I absolutely need to know what happens next."

And if you haven't figured it out already, mine is Post 11. Taken from a WIP, mind you. In other words, it's a first draft -- something I wouldn't normally let anyone see (except the sainted Mr. Authoress). So I'm finding your comments extremely helpful, thank you.

So tell me what you'll be working on this weekend.

Want to know why I'm asking? Because the last time I asked, I was so inspired (seriously) that it had a lasting effect on me. As in, I needed more focus and I knew it -- and your responses drove it home.

And guess what? I've got more focus now. All thanks to you.

I've got two projects going right now, one fiction and one nonfiction, as well as continuing to do the agent dance with my completed novel. I'm planning some "go away and leave me alone unless I scream" writing time for this weekend. To be approved by Mr. Authoress, of course. (Wouldn't want him to feel neglected, would we?)

Wish I had a Macbook Air, though. Then my stories and I could travel anyway. I'm thinking....local coffeehouse, quiet woodland thicket, noisy pub, the Caribbean...

Well, anyway. I'm waiting to hear your plans. Best wishes to my favorite bunch of authors!

  1. I'm going to be shopping and packing for my week-long retreat coming up on Monday. :)
As for writing, I've started a new project set in 17th century England and France. Am just starting chapter three, and am hoping that I'll get to chapter five this weekend.

  2. I think house cleaning is going to dominate my weekend. And baking. And I need to get some more writing done...

There is no such thing as down time.

  3. This weekend,if it does not rain, I am going apple picking. Then I am going to experiment with apple dishes to post for my blog on Prevention.com.

I am also going to querry some newspapers about doing an article on a local pug fest being held on the 20th.

If it rains, I will probably work on my WIP. I added a new first chapter and I need to finish it..

  4. I feel rotten about how behind I am - especially since I'm getting so many great comments on my own sub. So - tonight, I'll go on the attack. SO. Beware. Tonight.

    Other than that - tomorrow:

Trail riding, football game watching, shopping, birthday party, and writing. In that order.

Sunday is up in the air still, so hurray!

  5. I'm spending the weekend tiding the house. My father is visiting next week. Yippee!!

In the quiet periods at work, I'm reading through and updating a novel.

Just released my book, but I haven't had time to start promoting yet.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

  6. I am ashamed to say that I will be doing crits here on Drop the Needle (I should have done them already).

It's been hectic around here, and I have been neglecting those crits, but they are first on my list for the weekend!

  7. Where did my week, no, my weekend go? I swear it was just here... :P

Yesterday I was good and edited two novel chapters (4k something), wrote a sucky query letter that people gleefully shredded for me (I love my critters!), and waffled about NaNoWriMo (again).

Today I'm determined to edit a short, try another draft of the novel query (gah!) and edit more of the novel. Maybe I'll even find energy to do some actual, you know, writing on my WIP. Wouldn't that be impressive. *sarcasm*

heh, don't mean to spoil the mood or anything. :D I is just a bit frustrated at myself. ;)

*munches cookies and looks for characters to torment*

  9. Well, I am posting late. I left early Friday to travel the next state over for a book signing and workshop lecture. A six hour drive each way.

Before I left, I delivered the final art for my fourth picture book, due out in early 2009.

I know that's NOT writing, but since I do both, I can't write when I am painting.

I plan to get some much needed rest after the big push to meet the book deadline and get to the book signing on time.

Then I am going to attack the manuscript for another picture book I've been working on for almost two years. It'll be revision number 8. Wish me luck that I get the last kinks worked out this time!
