Winners Winners Winners

Here's the announcement of our winners -- completely written by our Secret Agent (thank you, Sally!):

Thanks so much for allowing me to take part in this! I was thrilled with the level of quality in these entries. It wasn't easy for me to pick winners.

Before I get to that, a couple of notes:

Please forgive me for my many typos in my comments. I hate to critique other people, only to go back and see all kinds of errors in my own writing, but the busier I get, the more typos and left-out words I find in my emails and blog posts and comments. I am constantly thinking faster than I can type and leaving words out--important words! Sorry about that. I hope you were able to figure out what I meant when I left words out.

Also, one of you has a complete manuscript in my "requested" folder right now. I give you my word, I will look at your manuscript next.

And now the winners . . .

Honorable mentions:

17, 24, 29, 47

You are welcome to send me a synopsis and the first 30 pages.

Third place:

13

I'd like to see a synopsis and the first 50 pages.

Second place:

38

A synopsis and the first 100 pages would be great.

And first place:

42

Please send a synopsis and the complete manuscript.

**

Winners, please email me at facelesswords(at)gmail.com for specific submission instructions.

Congratulations, all!

  1. Thank you again, Authoress, for the opportunity to have an agent's eyes on our work.

And, thank you to the agent for your helpful critiques. I read them all.

(Still nursing some disappointment---though you were "hooked", there was no request for more pages. Must be part of that Sovereign not now, not yet plan for me.)

All the best to you both. Again, thank you for what you do!

  2. hmmm if I was hooked maybe it was an oversight that I didn't ask for more pages. I said on several that I would read more--at least for a little bit. If I said I would read more you all are welcome to jump on that. Send a query and ten pages, as per my instructions on my site. I am closed to submissions and deleting, but if you put in the subject line something like "You asked to read more" or "You liked my think on Authoress's site" or something, I won't delete it.

If I said I was hooked and I didn't say I'd read more, it means that you were writing in a genre I don't read (horror) or it was an oversight. Feel free to try me with a query.

  5. Thanks so much for this great opportunity! It was really instructive to read all of the critiques and see the sorts of things that intrigued and irritated.
