I have submitted 9 times with screen name, title and genre then my excerpt and keep getting a message saying that it's been rejected because I need to have my screen name, etc. I have typed the submission info each time (not cutting and pasting that info)but it still happens. What am I doing wrong???? Very frustrated!
Thanks for the pointers but nothing seems to have worked. I did plain text, hand-typed the whole thing, and then re-did it again, saving as a text file, etc. I'm totally bummed! I've waited a long time for my genre too! :(
First off, let me apologize for the constant posts! Since I've had such difficulty with my submission process, I'm wondering now if it's the dialogue in my excerpt? Does the bot not recognize quotation marks, etc?
Authoress: I e-mailed my submission to you right at 9 p.m. Thank you for the help and the offer to submit for me. I don't know if you got it in time but if you did then Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! If you didn't, please know that I appreciate it anyway!
K Smith, I had trouble too. Type the SCREEN NAME: (etc.) just as Authoress shows above. Dialogue marks are not a problem. The problem is that plain text is really, really hard to get with some email clients.
I was using Go Daddy, but switched to Thunderbird and turned off HTML composition in the Account Settings, and then hand typed my entry...and, as my 8-yr-old says, "walla!"
Phew! I made it. Thanks again, Authoress. :-)

ReplyDeleteMake that 10 with the same result. I give up.
ReplyDeleteK. Smith,
ReplyDeleteYour word processor is adding strange characters that are invisible to us.
The contest is still open. Open an email in PLAIN TEXT and type your entry by hand.
That should do it.
You can also save as a text file, and then open in notepad (under accessories for windows) and then copy and paste into the email.
ReplyDeleteGood advice, anon, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'll give it a try!

ReplyDeleteK. Smith...
ReplyDeleteDo you have COLONS, like this:
SCREEN NAME:
TITLE:
GENRE:
If you don't have colons, it won't read the headings. It's important to type it exactly the way I did.
I can't figure out what the problem might be.
Tell you what. If you get this message to me in time, email me your submission and I will submit it for you.

Anon: Thanks for the suggestions! I have a feeling they will come in handy the next I try to submit! :)
ReplyDeleteK. Smith - mine was rejected twice, until I realized that I'd accidentally italicized a word or two. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
