Friday Fricassee

Wow!

It's a bit heady, all this excitement and enthusiasm. Buoying, too, because I'm admittedly a bit nervous about the actual onslaught of submissions.

I think I'm going to have a new level of empathy for agentkind.

So here's a quick peek at our upcoming schedule:

Next week: Logline Critique Session #3
Week of November 8: Secret Agent Contest
Week of November 15: Submissions for the Baker's Dozen Agent Auction
Week of November 22: Authoress collapses beneath the Thanksgiving table
Saturday, December 4: 40 winning entries posted to the auction
Tuesday, December 7: The bidding begins! The auction will remain open for 24 hours.

Definitely the most exciting line-up we've had in a while.

Somewhere in the middle of all that I will have completed the revision that's been grasping my life by the heels for weeks now. And there will be much rejoicing.

It's funny. I've never considered myself a "Type A" personality. I don't have the sort of heart-attack-inducing drive that these folks typically display. Yet Mr. A claims I AM a "Type A." Driven. And anyone reading today's post might say, "Um, Authoress is in denial if she thinks she's not a 'Type A'."

I'm not sure "driven" is the right word, though. Tenacious, yes. Determined, definitely. Committed to this writing thing to the end of time, for sure.

And slightly bonkers. Absolutely.

But "driven" sounds too pejorative. I'd rather not describe myself that way.

What a fun ride, though! Thanks for being a part of all this. See you on Monday!

Whew! And then Authoress takes a well-deserved holiday break!

Call it passionate instead of driven...and Type A says obsessive and controlling to me...you're just in control, not bossy ^_^

The schedule looks tight, best of luck with the revision!

Passionate sounds like a good word!

I've been way too busy lately to crit the contests . . . or enter into the logline.

I'm hoping to complete the revisions of my MS in time for the Baker's Dozen Agent Auction. Fingers crossed!

If not this time, maybe you'll do it again in the near future!

Thanks for doing all of the Authoress. I'm exhausted looking at what's coming up next month. You're definitely going to deserve your break. :D

Ah, wise lady. worry not. You simply find yourself suffering from a classic case of the EIV (English Irregular Verb). If I may demonstrate:

I am persistent.
You are stubborn.
He, she or it is a bloody minded son (or daughter) of a bitch who never listens, an' - an' - well, they jus' drive me mad and I think they should have just been shot at birth...

Let's try another.

I am caring.
You are clingy.
He/ she/ it just never leaves me alone! I swear that stalker song was written about them and...

The English Irregular verb. And, by the way, I don't think you're a Type Anything, if I may say so. You're a you, and that's a damn fine thing for all of us. So there. Now. Where did I put that 'sticks my tongue out' smiley? Oh. Here it is... :-P.

Authoress, you're focused and compassionate, IMO.

Have a great week end.

A question about the Auction. You say '250 word excerpt' and I have read the other posts regarding the auction. So can it be any 250 words from our novels or just the first 250 words.

Thanks and this sounds like so much fun.

You are amazing. Thank you, seriously, for taking so much time to give us all these opportunities to put our work out there. It's amazingly selfless and appreciated.

Hi fab Authoress,
I thought I'd give the log line round 3 a try, but couldn't find a submittal time. I guess it will be different because of election day or did I miss a post (tuesday 7PM EST like the others)?
Thanks again for all you do.
