Hooked! I like the voice and the image of the hat. The end of the sentence could use a little tweaking (maybe get rid of "the bill of"?), but I want to know what Tomas did to deserve the hat-smiting.
out of all the YA's posted. this one has me hooked the most so far. the voice is different enough to make me not immediately write it off as a knock-off
The feathery hat caught my attention, so I'd probably read on and see if the rest of the page keeps my attention. Anything that makes me smile gets bonus points too. ^_^
confused, but would read on. not hooked but curious.
ReplyDeleteThe end of this sentence could be tightened a tad, but I really liked it. It made me smile...and I don't even know Tomas Murphy.
ReplyDeleteHooked...
ReplyDeleteHooked, and smiling. Hints at a whimiscal voice that I'd like to read more of.
ReplyDeleteIt made me giggle, so I'd probably read a bit more just to see if the voice held up.
ReplyDeleteI snortgiggled. I'd read more.
ReplyDeleteHooked. It made me smile.
ReplyDeleteHooked. The tone seems light and funny, both things I like.
ReplyDeleteHooked. I like the voice and humor.
ReplyDeleteYes. Definitely hooked. :)
ReplyDeleteIt´s interesting. I wasn´t quite hooked, but I´d read further lines.
ReplyDeleteI usually don't read YA or Fantasy, but this has me hooked. Great voice!
ReplyDeleteReathery duck hat. Yes. Got me.
ReplyDeleteLaughing here.
ReplyDeleteHooked, in a "wait, what?" sort of way.
ReplyDeleteWhich is not nessicarily a bad sort of way...
Definitely want to know why...and about the hat, it's feathery?? That caught me off guard!
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Not too sure. It's really good, but it's just not for me. I'd probably read a little further.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely hooked. The voice of a character like this always gets me.
ReplyDeletedon't like violence in the speaker, but like the feathery duck hat
ReplyDeletehaha! I laughed, would keep reading. What did Tomas do?
ReplyDeleteLove the feathery duck hat!
ReplyDeleteYou had me with feathery duck hat (although you could condense that). I'd read on.
ReplyDeleteConfused and slightly taken to a silly-zone...might be hooked, but might not.
ReplyDeleteIt does draw me in, but I'm always leery about these type of openings. The rest seldom lives up to the beginning. But I'd read on to see.
ReplyDeleteI would read on just to find out about the hat and why the narrator wants to beat someone with it.
ReplyDeleteHooked by the feathery duck hat - love the image! :-)
ReplyDeleteHooked! I like the voice and the image of the hat. The end of the sentence could use a little tweaking (maybe get rid of "the bill of"?), but I want to know what Tomas did to deserve the hat-smiting.
ReplyDeleteNot hooked, but would want to know more about anyone wearing a feathery duck hat...
ReplyDeleteHooked! And I love the title.
ReplyDeleteHooked! Love the voice.
ReplyDeleteout of all the YA's posted. this one has me hooked the most so far. the voice is different enough to make me not immediately write it off as a knock-off
ReplyDeleteHooked. The end of the sentence is a bit too belaboured, but it made me smile, and I like the voice of the character.
ReplyDeleteThe image of a feathery duck hat made me smile. I like the voice.
ReplyDeleteI would read on to know why the MC wants to beat Tomas Murphy.
HOOKED! HOOKED! HOOKED! HOOKED! HOOKED!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous!!! ㋡

ReplyDeleteYes! Beating someone with a feathery duck hat is just my cup of tea. Really like the voice.
ReplyDeleteHooked!
ReplyDeleteSnickering, so yes, I'd read on. I like the title.
ReplyDeletea feathery duck hat didn't seem like the sort of thing that would beat anyone senseless
ReplyDeletemaybe i'm just unfamiliar with this kind of hat
